(i) To consider in line with the restrictions on, and pro-

hibition of, the carriage of Dangerous Goods in passenger vessels, what further restrictions on the carriage of such Dangerous Goods may be necessary in vessels engaged in the carriage of large numbers of unberthed passengers.

(j) To consider the degree of danger inherent in the carriage

of many local cargoes, such as rattan, smoked rubber sheet, carbon stick (compressed charcoal), raw cotton, gunny bags, glazing paper, local fireworks, etc., and to classify them in accordance with the general scheme.

(k) To consider in the light of the latest experimental findings

the suitability of the present location of the Gunpowder Depot, Dangerous Goods Anchorages and other shore instal- lations.

(1) To advise on the consequent revision necessary to Ordinance

No. 1 of 1873 and other Ordinances affecting Dangerous or Explosive Goods.

Changes in Membership

During the sittings of the Committee Mr. D.B. Sinclair replaced Mr. R.H. Wild, resigned, with effect from 9th January 1950; Mr. J. Moodie was appointed to act during the absence on leave of the Hon. C.E.M. Terry with effect from 10th April 1950 and, at Mr. Terry's request, continued as a member after his return to the Colony;

Mr. T.B. Low replaced Mr. D. G. Cairns on 1st May 1950, Mr. E.C. Hubbard replaced Mr. E.E. Hudson on 17th May 1950, Mr. R. Frost replaced Mr. A. Reid on 25th October 1950 and Mr. W. Sprague replaced Mr. N. Garland on 9th December 1950, the original members having resigned on leaving the Colony.
